U.S. Sees Faster than Average Job Growth for Heavy Equipment Operators

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the employment of heavy equipment operators will grow by 12% from 2016 to 2026.* There are a number of bridges, roads and utility systems that need repair and maintenance. Skilled operators will be needed to assist on these jobs and other infrastructure related work. Trained operators “with the ability to operate multiple types of equipment should have the best job opportunities.”*

Programs Offered

We offer a variety of programs designed to help students develop the necessary skillsets and obtain the knowledge that will help them to succeed. The following programs are offered as part of our curriculum:

Certificate of Heavy Equipment Operations – Level I:

In this course, you learn the basics about what it means to work as a heavy equipment operator. It is, in other words, an important course that will provide you with a solid foundation upon which you can build your career.

Certificate of Heavy Equipment Operations – Level II:

This is a course designed to take the foundation of your education and build upon it in an exhilarating and exciting way. It explores more advanced skills and details necessary for more advanced positions in the construction and heavy equipment operations industries.

Certificate of Heavy Equipment Operations – Mobile Crane:

This course is designed to give you both practical experience and classroom interaction when it comes to the fundamentals of crane operation. This includes both swing cab and fixed-cab hydraulic cranes, and includes learning about things like crane set-up, lift planning, rigging and signaling, and load dynamics.

Certificate of Heavy Equipment Operations – Lattice Boom Crawler Crane:

This course offers much of the same information as the above Crane Operations Program, but it specializes on the lattice boom crane. (GA/OK Only)

About HEC

Certification

The NCCCO program utilizes an outcome-based assessment approach. This provides an objective evaluation that meets industry and regulatory standards and accurately measures knowledge and abilities. Level One and Level Two training will help prepare you for the ADEPT (Adaptable Equipment Proficiency Testing) exam, a nationally-recognized heavy equipment operations certification valued by employers across the country.

OKLAHOMA LOCATION ONLY: Heavy Equipment Colleges of America has a Certificate of Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The school’s programs are approved by TWC. Students must address their concerns about this school of any of its educational programs by following the grievance process outlined in the school’s catalog. Students dissatisfied with the school’s response to their complaint or who are not able to file a complaint with the school, can file a formal complaint with TWC, as well as with other relevant agencies or accreditors, if applicable. Information on filing a complaint with TWC can be found on TWC’s website at www.texasworkforce.org/careerschoolstudents.

Heavy Equipment Colleges of America endorses the national certification program offered by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) and provides training to prepare candidates for CCO examinations.

*The Army’s Career Skills Program (CSP) prepares Soldiers for civilian employment through first-class apprenticeships, on-the-job training, job shadowing, internships and employment skills training. Soldiers are eligible to participate in an Army CSP up to 180 days prior to separation from the Army and after completion of the mandatory 5-day SFL-TAP workshop. To be considered for an open seat in a CSP you must contact the POC at the installation where you want to attend a CSP and submit your commander authorized/signed participation memo in advance of the start date.

WIOA/TAA funded training may be provided only to individuals who qualify for the program and not only if funds are available.
