Bill Keever, West Region President of the Heavy Equipment Colleges of America, knows that decisions determine destiny. No matter where you are today, you can improve your life by making the right decisions—and one of the best decisions is to get educated on something. From Army Member to HEC Region President
“I have a desire to truly impact people’s lives in a positive way, and we [HEC] have the ability to do that and in as little as three weeks.” – Bill Keever
Keever didn’t always see himself in education. Before he became the HEC West Region President, Keever was a competitive marksman, Army member, and an Olympic competitor. Although he wasn’t always in the field of education, his background shows his love of positively impacting people’s lives. While in the military, he hired Army wounded warriors and combat amputees to compete in the U.S. Army Paralympics. And now, he puts that passion into his job as West Region President. When asked about why he chose HEC and how it ties into his passion, Keever stated, “I have a desire to truly impact people’s lives in a positive way, and we [HEC] have the ability to do that and in as little as three weeks.”
Why HEC?
“We want to kind of have a conversation about how we can work together to obtain their goals in life… Our staff has this general concern and care for people. And they have an abundance of pride in what they do and their ability to help people wherever they are.” – Bill Keever
For five years, Keever has been working for HEC. He knows all the ins and outs of the institute, and most importantly, knows why HEC is the premiere school for all things heavy machinery. Not only can you get certified in three weeks, but the school and faculty truly emphasize safety.
“When you’re in an industry like this, lots of companies talk about safety. And I’ll tell you that safety for us is not something that we talk about—it’s something that we actively do on a daily basis.”
This emphasis on safety helps students at HEC succeed not only in the classroom but out on the job as well. When it comes to jobs, the faculty at HEC prioritizes students’ career opportunities. From their career department to their partnership with companies needing operators, HEC truly wants their students to succeed.
“We want to kind of have a conversation about how we can work together to obtain their goals in life… Our staff has this general concern and care for people. And they have an abundance of pride in what they do and their ability to help people wherever they are.”
