So you are interested in enrolling in a training course to develop your heavy equipment and crane operating skills–or perhaps you have already completed a program or two–but you aren’t quite sure how to begin the actual job search? That’s okay. We understand the application process can be even more intimidating than the training itself. We believe all of our students should have great careers, especially after they have completed our training programs. With that in mind, we are proud to offer a wide variety of career services to help our students find job openings, land an interview, and receive a coveted job offer.

An important area of the job search is the resume. You can consider your resume as your first impression.
Calling attention to your skills, experience and any applicable awards or certificates you have received as part of your education or career is important on a resume. A potential employer should be able to tell enough about you from your resume to determine whether or not you actually fit the role in question. Your skills and experience should fit the job you are trying to land.
For help creating or polishing a resume that will help get you in the door, contact your location! Ask them about resume-building services they offer and do not hesitate to take advantage of them.
One of the most dreaded parts of any career search is the interview. In reality, you should be happy for an interview! Your resume did its job and the employer is curious enough to call you in for an in-person meeting. The hard part is over – you already have the potential employer’s attention. An interview is just the next step in the process.
Sometimes being nervous about interviews can lead to a lot of confusion and regrets when the big day comes. To help you avoid these problems and keep a positive attitude when you receive an interview, HEC’s career services offers mock interviews! These are designed to get you used to speaking about yourself and your training, and to help you become more comfortable speaking with other people in a more formal setting.
Sometimes you can have a great resume and good interviewing skills and still find yourself coming up short because you can’t find the jobs. This is often because it can be confusing to navigate online job boards. We understand the confusion and are here to help. Our professionals can help you move through job boards and filter the requests to find jobs for your needs. Once you have that skill down, it will be much easier to submit an application to the right potential employer.
